The Other Options

Even though biking sounds like a convenient and easy way to get around campus, there are other options that might fit your needs better.
The CATA bus system provides busses that travel throughout campus and make it easier to get to locations off campus that might be out of your able-to-bike-to range. It also runs pretty cheap for students only costing them 60 cents a ride if you decide to pay each ride or CATA offers an option to buy a semester long bus pass. There are also ways to buy passes with a certain number of rides on them if you think you won't be using it very often.
If you decide to live off campus taking a car is a possibility, but keep in mind finding a parking space can be a bear and the cost of parking right on campus can add up. If taking a bus doesn't bother you, then think about buying a commuter lot pass then bus, walk, or bike onto main campus.
No matter how you get around MSU's campus, it's always a beautiful time
